Frequently Asked Questions

How is WordWatch different from GPTZero, Turnitin, etc.?

Most detectors use statistical token-frequency analysis — they look for patterns in word distribution. WordWatch uses craft forensics: we analyze writing the way an experienced editor does, looking at rhythm, structure, voice, and rhetorical choices. This makes our analysis more resilient to paraphrasing and more defensible when challenged.

Can I dispute a result?

Yes. Every finding includes specific evidence and editorial reasoning. We encourage review — if you believe a finding is incorrect, our reports give you the exact passages and patterns to evaluate yourself.

What does the CAS score mean?

The Craft Authenticity Score (0-100) measures how many human-writing craft markers are present vs. AI-generation signals. Higher is more authentically human. It is NOT a binary 'AI or not' label — it's a nuanced assessment with confidence levels.

Do you store submitted text?

Free scans are not stored. Pro scans are stored in your account for scan history, protected by Row Level Security. You can delete any scan at any time. Enterprise customers can opt out of storage entirely.
